Meet our Unit Leaders

We are delighted to introduce Chris Pattullo, James Gallagher, Oscar James and Juee Anaokar as our Unit Leadership Team who will be preparing 36 lucky Explorer Scouts and joining them for an experience of a lifetime in summer 2027 when they attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland

Chris is currently the Deputy Unit Leader of Erik Armstrong Explorers in Richmond, where he has been Scouting since moving to London four years ago.  He can typically be found singing at a campfire… or starting one just to have something to sing around.  International adventures have been a highlight of his time in Scouting and he attended the last two World Scout Jamborees in South Korea and America as a member of the International Service Team and has undertaken many other adventures including to Finland, Canada, and Kenya along the way.  He is really looking forward to working with the rest of the Unit 34 leadership team and welcoming the young people who’ll soon be joining them.

James has recently moved into the County but has an extensive background Scouting in Glasgow, with experience in Group Leadership, governance, and youth involvement. He also served on the International Service Team at the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, where he witnessed the resilience of young people supporting each other. James looks forward to meeting the unit and building a strong team together.

Oscar is currently a Team Leader at 1st Hampton Hill Sea Scouts, a group he joined as a Beaver Scout before working his way through every section before moving into a leadership role to give back to the same group that shaped him. Oscar feels lucky to have gained some incredible international Scouting experiences along the way which has included travelling to the Netherlands with his District and later this year he will also be heading to Kandersteg with his own Group and visiting Ghana as part of the Scouts of the World Award for a project that he is really excited about.

Juee has been involved with the Scouts in Croydon for the past two years, starting as a volunteer in a Group with the Beavers section and now serving as a Team Leader within the same group. She has always enjoyed working with children, as their energy, curiosity, and creativity inspire her and help her to develop new ways of thinking and problem-solving, and being part of the Scouts has been a rewarding experience, where she has learned a great deal from both adults and young people involved in the movement. Juee has previously attended an International Jamboree as an International Service Team Member.

Unit Selection Update

The team have been working with Ant, Chris and many other volunteers from across the County to select the Young People that will represent us as part of the UK contingent in Poland. Selection was completed on Sunday evening via a live ballot run in front of District representatives and to be considered for the ballot, Young People had to apply for a place, attend one of two selection events in January, achieve a minimum score from the various exercises at those events, and we had to receive satisfactory references from their Group leaders.

For all the Young People and families keenly waiting for the results, you should receive these in the next couple of days so please keep an eye on your email inboxes!
