New Young Leader Training Camps

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new County training arrangements for Explorer Scouts aspiring to be Young Leaders. To complement existing arrangements run at District level, the County Team is introducing a weekend training camp each term which will cover 9 of the 11 modules (Modules B to J) of the Young Leader Training Award over the course of one weekend.

Aspiring Young Leaders will have the opportunity to complete most of the required content for the Young Leader Award whilst having the opportunity to meet with other like-minded Young People from across the County and bag 2 nights away towards their other Top Awards.

Pre-requisite: Module A – Prepare for take off*

*There may be an opportunity for us to cover Module A at the start of the weekend for those who have not been able to complete this beforehand.

Modules covered on the Training Weekend:

  1. Module B – Taking the lead
  2. Module C- That’s the way to do it!
  3. Module D – Understanding behaviour
  4. Module E – Game on!

  6. Module G – What is a high quality programme?

Chris Wright, County Lead Volunteer, commented “I am excited to be able to launch these training camps for Young Leaders and with over 100 places available over the next 12 months, I hope that this initiative will make a meaningful contribution to growing the number of trained Young Leaders available to support our Groups as well as help our Young Leaders to feel better equipped to undertake their roles”
