Opportunities to Join Team GLSW

Our new County Lead Volunteer, Chris Wight, and County Leadership Team are actively seeking additional volunteers to join our County Team to help us grow Scouting across South West London and offer more adventurous opportunities for our Young People.  We currently have opportunities across our Support Team, Volunteer Development Team and Programme Team and are also looking for a new County Youth Lead.  Further details are below and if you share our passion for creating more opportunities for our Young People to experience adventure and gain valuable Skills for Life, we hope you will consider joining the team.

Support Team

We currently have a vacancy for the role of County Support Team Leader, who will be a member of our County Leadership Team and lead and develop the wider County Support Team which covers sub-Teams looking after Media, Technology, Equipment, Property and Community Engagement.   If you would be interested in this role and would like to know more, please contact Chris, our County Lead Volunteer, on CLV@glswscouts.org.uk

We looking to grow our recently re-launched County Media Team, to keep our County website up to date so it becomes the go to place for information, to manage our social media accounts to help our older Youth Members to better see what is on offer, and to photograph the exciting events that we run.  If you have an interest or experience in website management, website content, social media management or photography/film and would like to know more then please contact Jamie, County Media Team Leader, on media@glswscouts.org.uk

We are looking to grow our newly formed County Technology Team to manage the digital systems and apps that we use and to identify further areas where our Members and Volunteers can benefit from using digital solutions.  If you have an interest or experience in these areas and would like to know more, then please contact Toby, County Technology Team Leader on tech@glswscouts.org.uk

Following our recent investment in a second minibus, which is available to support both County events and more local events run by our member Groups and Districts, we are looking to add further volunteers to our Transport Team to help manage these assets.  If you are an experienced minibus driver and would be happy to help drive the bus to support Scouting events, or to help manage bookings, then please contact Paul, County Minibus & Equipment Team Leader on equipment@glswscouts.org.uk

Volunteer Development Team

We currently have a vacancy for the role of County Volunteer Development Team Leader, who will be a member of our County Leadership Team and lead and help develop the wider County Volunteer Development Team which covers sub-teams looking after Volunteer Engagement, Volunteer Inductions, First Aid Training, Scout Skills Training and Volunteer Recognition.  We are particularly keen to hear from potential volunteers with a background in HR, training or personal development.   If you are interested in this role and would like to know more, please contact Chris, our County Lead Volunteer, on CLV@glswscouts.org.uk

Programme Team

We have an experienced Programme Team managed by Ian Tombleson, County Programme Team Leader, with sub-Teams: running the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme; running the Explorer Belt Award; running an annual Gang Show (variety show); delivering annual County Events for our Youth Members; supporting groups with International Adventures and managing County participation in International scouting events; delivering hillwalking and climbing skills; running permit assessments, and supporting State Duties.

We offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to our Explorer Scouts and Network Scouts across the County.  This continues to go from strength to strength with the County DofE Team supporting over 100 Young People to complete their expeditions this year across all three levels of the Award.  We are urgently looking to recruit volunteers to help administer the scheme by processing registrations and reviewing evidence submitted by Yong People once they have finished working on their Award.  If you are interested in helping or would like to find out more, please contact Matthew, our DofE Team Leader on dofe@glswscouts.org.uk

We are also planning to offer a new Young Leader Training programme this year at County level for 14-17 year-old Explorer Scouts to supplement the training being offered by some of our Districts and are recruiting a team to help run this.  If you are interested in helping to facilitate leadership opportunities for our Explorer Scouts or would like to know more then please contact Caroline, our County Explorer Scout Leader at explorers@glswscouts.org.uk

County Youth Lead

We are also looking to appoint a new County Youth Lead, who will be a member of our County Leadership Team with responsibility for supporting our District Youth Leads to ensure that Young People’s ideas and decisions help influence what we offer within our Districts and County.   This role is open to those aged 18-25 at the time of appointment and they must be able to sit on our Board of Trustees.  We will be using an open recruitment process so if you are interested then please check back for details which will be available by the end of this week.
