World Scout Jamboree 2023

25th World Scout Jamboree, Korea 2023

Dates and Venue

The 25th World Scout Jamboree at SaeManGeum, Korea, will be held from 1 to 12 August in 2023 with our participants and unit leaders likely to be in Korea before and after these dates exploring the country as part of their Jamboree experience.
Final dates and flight details will be shared nearer the time.

The UK Contingent have confirmed that Jamboree Units will not be away more than 3 weeks, which means that we can advise the earliest and latest dates Units will travel:

Maximum travel dates: Saturday 22nd July until Tuesday 22nd August
Please keep these dates clear until your Jamboree Unit’s travel dates are confirmed.

Participants must have been born between 22 July 2005 and 31 July 2009 and be a registered member of a Scout Group or Explorer Scout Unit.

How were participants selected?

For the 2023 World Scout Jamboree, GLSW Scout County will be selecting our Jamboree Participants by way of a ballot.

Click here to read the complete guidance on the selection process, including how this ballot will work and why this selection process has been chosen.
As a County we have 72 participant places. Of those, there are 14 available for each District. The number of places available per District in the ballot is detailed in the guidance above.

After submitting an application, you were invited to a one day Jamboree Event run by your District.
The aim of the day is to give you a taste of what a Jamboree will be like, share what we already know about the Jamboree, and see your enthusiasm for working with new Scout friends for international adventure.
Unlike previous events, we weren’t scoring you through the day on each activity, so all you need to do is come along and be yourself. See below for how participants will be selected.
At the end of the day we will ask you a simple question, given everything you have heard and learnt about the Jamboree, “Do you still want to go?”. It’s not a test or a trick question, it’s a moment to reflect and ask yourself if this is the right adventure for you.

Our GLSW Jamboree Units

We have two Jamboree Units going to the Jamboree, Unit 35 and Unit 36. Each Unit has 4 fantastic leaders and 36 enthusiastic participants from across our Scout County.

Jamboree Unit Camps:

Both Units have agreed to hold their training camps on the same dates, with most at different venues. These will be aimed at giving them the skills they need to make the most of their adventure, strengthen their bond as a Unit so they can support one another, and have fun on all things Jamboree. Generally these camps will run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.

Fundraising:

From selection, our participants have 18 months to work with their Scout District, Scout Group, Explorer Unit, and Jamboree Unit to think big, dream wild, and act together on their fundraising ideas.
With a fundraising target of £3,895, they have their work cut out for them, but we know they can achieve it by working together!

As ideas start coming together, we will share those here for all to see
