What is a World Scout Jamboree?
The World Scout Jamboree is the largest scouting event organised by the Scout Movement, gathering up to 50,000 people from all over the world. It is above all an educational event to promote peace and understanding. The World Scout Jamboree includes a wide variety of activities and also places great importance on everyday life and interaction on the campsite.
The World Scout Jamboree takes place every four years in a different country.
History of the World Scout Jamboree
Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement, invited young people from all over the World and wanted them to exchange cultures and enjoy adventure. It was in 1920 that the first World Scout Jamboree was realized, held in the Olympia halls in Kensington, London.

Unit Leaders
We are proud to say that we have now selected our 8 Unit Leaders for the Jamboree to lead Unit 35 and Unit 36.
How our World Scout Jamboree Unit Leaders will show their stripes!
We're so excited that GLSW has been allocated 8 patrols to become part of the UK Contingent to the 25 World Scout Jamboree in Korea during 2023.
That means we have recruited 8 adult volunteers to become the Unit Leadership Team who will make sure that our 72 young people will be empowered to be bold and brave to make the most of the life shaping experience the World Scout Jamboree will provide.
We're supporting the UK Contingent's vision to be the most inclusive UK Contingent to attend a World Scout Jamboree. There should be no unnecessary barriers to anyone becoming part of our Unit Leadership Team.
Never been to a Jamboree before? - that's OK!
Not an Explorer Scout Leader? - absolutely no problem
Never been on a plane? - step forward tiger!
The UK Contingent is not shying away from challenging the perceptions of who an adult jamboree volunteer is, so if you're prepared to Think big. Dream wild and Act together. Why not leap at the opportunity to apply to join our team?
This is an adult role, and considering prior experience, the UK Contingent advises Unit Leaders, Deputies and Assistants should be at least 18 years old by 1 January 2022.
