Nights Away Workshop

14th May 2022

05/14/2022 00:00 05/15/2022 00:00 Europe/London Nights Away Workshop In 2017 we held our last Workshops at the County Conference in the Croydon Hilton and prior to that one in Richmond The role description for an approved County Assessor includes the requirement to undertake a minimum of two days ongoing learning as well as attending assessor’s meetings, shadowing assessors, and doing assessment reviews in the previous five years Nights Away Advisors are required to be active and up to date in their role and to have undertaken a one-day NAA workshop in the previous five years DCs and ADCs Activities are also invited as a means of refreshing their knowledge about the two permit schemes and their responsibilities in them With Covid we have all had a very reduced or non-existent workload with recognised skills fade and it is very important that we all update and consider things like permit renewals after a prolonged period of inactivity So, in the past few months, we have been busy and have organised two concurrent workshops for Saturday 14th May 2022, which will be held at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Kingston, which for the GLSW participants, the workshops will be free and include refreshments during the day plus a buffet lunch for all Clearly this will not be without cost to the County, being £50 per person attending which includes the venue hire The two workshops will be run by members of the UK SASU, who are set up to provide assessor support throughout the UK and I list an outline programme below The hotel has required minimum numbers for each of the two booked rooms of 25 for the Assessment Workshop and 30 for the Nights Away Workshop and it’s important that we reduce the risk to the County of under attendance and wasted resources and so we are setting a GLSW member target date for registration of 26thFebruary 2022, after which adjacent counties will be invited to take up any surplus places at their own cost The link for registration for GLSW members is: https://www trybooking co uk/BJWP For more details contact Robin Corti, ACC Activities
In 2017 we held our last Workshops at the County Conference in the Croydon Hilton and prior to that one in Richmond.

The role description for an approved County Assessor includes the requirement to undertake a minimum of two days ongoing learning as well as attending assessor’s meetings, shadowing assessors, and doing assessment reviews in the previous five years.

Nights Away Advisors are required to be active and up to date in their role and to have undertaken a one-day NAA workshop in the previous five years.

DCs and ADCs Activities are also invited as a means of refreshing their knowledge about the two permit schemes and their responsibilities in them. With Covid we have all had a very reduced or non-existent workload with recognised skills fade and it is very important that we all update and consider things like permit renewals after a prolonged period of inactivity.

So, in the past few months, we have been busy and have organised two concurrent workshops for Saturday 14th May 2022, which will be held at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Kingston, which for the GLSW participants, the workshops will be free and include refreshments during the day plus a buffet lunch for all.Clearly this will not be without cost to the County, being £50 per person attending which includes the venue hire. The two workshops will be run by members of the UK SASU, who are set up to provide assessor support throughout the UK and I list an outline programme below.

The hotel has required minimum numbers for each of the two booked rooms of 25 for the Assessment Workshop and 30 for the Nights Away Workshop and it’s important that we reduce the risk to the County of under attendance and wasted resources and so we are setting a GLSW member target date for registration of 26thFebruary 2022, after which adjacent counties will be invited to take up any surplus places at their own cost.
